With the Shread hosting, bandwidth measured in megabits or gigabyte

Does with the Shread hosting, bandwidth measured in megabits or gigabyte.

Bandwidth consumption over the last several years has shifted from a per megabit usage model to a per gigabyte usage model.
As the shared hosting model developed, the trend towards gigabyte or total bytes transferred, replaced the megabit line speed model so dedicated server providers started offering per gigabyte.

Bandwidth was traditionally measured in line speed access that included the ability to purchase needed megabits at a given monthly cost.

Subdomains over 2 servers

Hello,

I have 1 domain on one server but need to use subdomains over 2 servers like:

server 1
ns3.domain.com
ns4.domain.com

server 2
ns5.domain.com
ns6.domain.com

How can i do it?

Go to your domain registrar and set up subdomains with the ip addresses of the specific servers.

I think you could just out it all across like private nameservers. Just put the IP for 3 and 4 on server 2’s IP and redirect it to a subdomain.

Yes, I think this setting is going to be under your domain registrar. Check it out with them if you can make several sub domains under your main domain account. Else, you may need to simply share the servers used by your main domain.

Dedicated server Info.

I have about 20 different web sites which are hosted with different hosting services. Would it be smarter for me to go with a dedicated server and move all my sites on one? And how would this effect my Google ranking for my sites on one dedicated server?

You most likely don’t need a Dedicated server. A Reseller is probably best for you. U can purchase a Reseller web hosting plan from cpwebhosting.net and host Unlimited Domain and SubDomain.

It depends on u. How much bandwidth and space are your websites taking up and how many hits do you receive altogther? This should be the main thing you think about when switching to a bigger server.

If you have high traffic sites or you store large amounts of data (movies, music, images, etc.) you might want to get a dedicated server.

you should go for a Reseller account,if your websites are not so big.

Not unless your websites are high in traffic , I do not think it is pratical to acquire a dedicated server.

To maintain a dedicated server you must have the technical know how. Else you end up spending your time maintaining your dedicated server than maintaining your websites .

I think You could go with a managed dedicated server. This would allow you the advantages of a dedicated server without the headaches and knowhow.

Thanx Dolbz, I have no technical knowledge to maintain a dedicated server.

If u have no technical knowledge then go with Reseller web hosting.

My own computer as a host

Can I use my own computer as a host? I am trying to get my computer to run as one since I have an extra hard drive which holds around 80 gigabytes of space.

U can but that usually never works properly. You’ll probably have low uptime and slow loading sites.

I do not think so that it is a good idea to use your Pc as host because there are going to be lot of technical problems arise at that time.I think its better to use other reliable webhosting server.

Running commercial websites from you home PC is really not a good move.

first off your PC has no redundancy as compared to dedicated server hardware, RAID, Spare power supplies, UPS etc. Secondly you have no saervice level agreement with you home provider and a 95% uptime for example is no good for a commerical site.

It is very possible to do this, however unless you are running a T-1 line at your house.

It will be the good idea,If you are thinking of running a personal website.

Hard disk is not the only thing you have to consider – memory, processor speed, and security are all important. Plus, your computer needs to be powered on all the time.

I would probably not recommend it. As you will have slow access and also the redundancy issues involved. If you are planning on spending the money and have a good service already you might be able to pull it off.

you CANNOT use residential internet for commercial purposes.

What do I need… VPS or Dedicated?

Hi,

I have a site in which

150 users online at the same time
400 visitors per hour

What do I need… VPS or Dedicated?

Any advice

It might really depend on what these 100 users online at one time are doing. If they’re streaming videos you’ll definitely need a lot more than if they’re just reading articles.

If your users are only loading text or something that doesn’t take up too much bandwidth, then VPS. Otherwise, I would make the switch to a Dedicated server. .

If you are expecting more traffic,I would suggest u Dedicated server

If your site traffic is not so high, go for Vps otherwise go for Dedicated server.

Its depends on the service you are providing to your visitors. If your site offers streaming videos, music then you better go for Dedicated server otherwise not.

Choosing between VPS and Dedicated server stricly depend on bandwith needs and feature needs.

I think that in this case for what you want to do I would probably go with a dedicated server this way you avoid having to change if you need to and since you will be yeilding high traffic as people are logging in you it would work out better.

For a regular site, you could probably go with simply a larger vps as long as you find a good provider.

use a dedicated, it should not be too expensive. U can find a Dedicated server at 110$ from cpwebhosting.net

Full-featured hosting services

What different Full-featured hosting services do you provide?

You can have Full-featured hosting services which includes:

* Dedicated hosting service, also called managed hosting service, where the hosting service owns and manages the machine, leasing full control to the client. Management of the server can include monitoring to ensure the server continues to work effectively, backup services, installation of security patches and various levels of technical support.
* Virtual private server, in which virtualization technology is employed in order to allow multiple logical servers to run on a single physical server
* Colocation facilities, which provide just the Internet connection and climate control, but let the client do his own system administration; the most expensive

Spam messages problem

Hi,
I am getting a lots of spam messages in my inbox. How can i eliminate it.

it would be helpful for you

1 – In cPanel, set the default address to :fail:

2 – Do NOT use any common email addresses. This includes (accounting, billing, sales, support, webmaster, abuse, ect… ect…)

3 – If you want to list your email address on your website, make it an image. Spammers sometimes use automated software that searches web sites for email addresses. Luckily their software can not read email addresses if there an image.

4 – Be cautious when filling out forms on the web. Alot of offers on the web are really just an attempt to get your email address. So if you don’t fully trust a company, don’t give them your email address. If you really want to give an email address to an untrusted company, create a yahoo or gmail account.

If you already receive a lot of spam good solution is SpamBayes.

u r right mouse. This software works well with outlook. First, you train the program — you select some good and some spam messages. SpamBayes will assign to every word some value. This values will be used to determine which message is spam or which is good.

I find using “Boxtrapper” is an excellant way to fight spam mail, since the day I used it, my mail box is always clean.

I agree with u. I have also reduced spam using boxtrapper

Just use webmails like hotmail, yahoo and gmail. Always free and if it gets attacked by spam, which it will, just close it and move on

It’s good for the end user, there’s not a doubt about that. However, a downfall of Boxtrapper is that when spammers send mail with harvested return addresses, often active addresses belonging to real people, your mail server sends those automatic verifications back to those addresses.

So along with a spammer not having their way, a random (and confusing) auto reply ends up in an innocent inbox.
