The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Model Curriculum for UG and PG Level Engineering Courses launched on January 24 2018, has been designed and framed by leading experts from premier technical institutes and industries to give a boost to innovation & research and motivate students and faculty to take up projects in newly emerging areas of artificial intelligence and robotics, etc.
The Government is implementing the following schemes/ programmes as a measure to support higher education institutions with the necessary technology and infrastructure to facilitate innovation:
i) AICTE Start-up Policy: The AICTE launched the Start-up Policy in November 2016. The policy follows the “Start-up India” action plan, Govt. of India, to guide and promote student-driven innovations & start-ups in AICTE-approved institutions nationwide.
ii) Smart India Hackathon: The Government, in association with AICTE, Persistent Systems & i4c, is organizing the “Smart India Hackathon (SIH)” as a non-stop digital product development competition to harness the creativity and expertise of students.
Today, the Minister of State (HRD), Dr Satya Pal Singh, gave this information in a written reply to a Lok Sabha question.
