Working man can build a technology marketing company having a value in Crores

In today’s news, you will know the mantra of success, how a simple working man can build a technology marketing company with a value in crores. Mr. Manish Godha, who made a Rs.6 Crore technology marketing company, will tell you this success mantra.

Earlier, Mr. Manish Godha worked in the ICICI Bank as a systems security executive, but for diversification, the structured organization leaves less scope. So, he started his own practice and built a Rs.6 Crore technology marketing company named Advaiya Solutions.

He did a C.A. Chartered Accountancy course in 1998 from Udaipur, and then he worked with an engineering company in Mumbai for 1 year. Next, he took a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) course and joined ICICI Bank in Bangalore. But within 2 years, he moved back to Udaipur to continue his CA practice.

When he started his CA practice, he faced a tough time of around 3 years as his clients were not regular and were in smaller numbers. In 2004, he met some clients who have worked with software related to project management. After meeting with them and going through their work, Godha realized that this was the work that he had always wanted to do. This Project management software is beneficial for companies as it allows them to track, check and compare the progress of their various projects. This software is already famous as a big business in established markets in the U.S., but now it is also finding its feet in India, to. Thus, in June 2005, he started his Advaiya Solutions organisation with only Rs.1 lakh seed capital. He has gathered the money from his savings and some of his friends and family members. Before starting, Mr.Godha wanted to sell their products to individual clients and companies, and for this, he wanted to be in touch with Microsoft, so he had support from his colleagues, brother and other friends. In the organisation’s first year, his company worked only with Microsoft, which helped it break even.

In his work, when the software major adopts a solution-based approach and does not focus on products, his organization faces a big break. In 2006, he wanted to increase the number of products to sell, and thus, increased the number of products to increase its sales or business and also searched for a partner to market its technology. Within 1 year, it tied up with Advaiya, and this deal helped the company based at Udaipur to generate a revenue of Rs 60 lakh. Microsoft has contributed a lot; it generates 90 per cent of its income, so the company has decided to continue to work mainly with Microsoft.

Every year, Advaiya showed its total growth at over 100%, but when the recession entered the market, a global slowdown hit companies like Microsoft, and the former was also impacted. The company was expecting a revenue of Rs. 10 Crore in 2011, but it generated a revenue of Rs 5 Crore, which was much less than their expectation. So, in January 2010, Advaiya set up an office in Udaipur’s IT Park and started looking at other companies to help market their technology. The company also get the support because it is based in Udaipur, not in a metro city, and its operational cost and attrition rate are also meagre. However, the salary structure is not different from a company based in a metro city like Mumba, as Godha said.
The company’s clients now include Google, VMware, Citrix, AT&T, Polycom, QuePort, Annai Systems, and UBM. The company wants to expand itself not only in India but also in the Middle East. Last year, Advaiya reported a revenue of about Rs 6 crore, and in the next fiscal year, the company expects to generate Rs 10-11 crore.

$18 Billion Technology Business

There is good news for the technology firms situated in India, as they have an enormous opportunity of $ 18 billion, by which they can improve the efficiency of their operations, which leads to helping their clients or customers in improving productivity, proper utilization of resources and assets and finally end with an outstanding level of customer satisfaction.

This opportunity is available to technology firms as large quantities of data are generated by a network of internet-connected devices like sensors, routers, smartphones, smart TVs, and security cameras, referred to as the Internet of Things or IoT. According to the networking firm Cisco, organisations use data to achieve the opportunity.

Predicative analytics and big data are the technologies companies use to increase their productivity and operational efficiency. If there are more intelligent networks, then it will help the company plan better, improve productivity, and reduce operational inefficiency.

According to Cisco’s projections, the company’s assets can be utilised better, presenting $1.4 billion; the employees’ productivity is increased, offering a $ 0.9 billion opportunity, and improved supply chain logistics presents $8. 3 billion, good level of customer satisfaction gives $2.7 billion and $4.7 billion is presented by solid innovation, including shorter time to market and extra sources of revenue from new business models and opportunities gives $4.7 billion and all this is possible with improved capital efficiency and business process execution.

IoT advantages are not restricted to the corporate world; other sectors like healthcare and hospitality are transformed by predictive analytics and Big Data technologies. For example, IoT may provide virtual doctors in villages, as specialists are absent.

IP-enabled devices are connected to a shared network and communicate with each other; things such as door locks, thermostats, set-top-boxes, mini-fridges, light switches and others can be automated to provide a better experience for hotel guests, driving greater customer loyalty.

According to Cisco’s Internet of Everything Value Index study, IoT is expected to generate at least $613 billion in global corporate profits in 2013.

Wipro Ties Up Splunk, Pingar, Opera, Axeda, Solix and Cloudmunch

India’s prominent IT companies or software exporters enter into partnerships with startups, so outsourcing contracts in the hottest technology areas, such as cloud computing, enterprise mobility and data analytics, can be won.

As per the chief technology officer of Wipro, the company wants to tie up with the startups because the employees cannot do every task, and startups provide you with excellent and fast speed. A Bangalore-based company has evaluated around 80 startups worldwide in the last 18 months, signed 30 technology services contracts with clients, and leveraged products and solutions from a few startups. Wipro also ties up with other startups such as Splunk, Pingar, Opera, Axeda, Solix and Cloudmunch. HCL Technologies, India’s fourth-largest technology firm, partnered with two dozen technology partners as startups. The midsized technology outsourcing firm Zensar Technologies has identified various plans and startups by which a joint go-to-market strategy can be developed.

As new technologies such as cloud computing, social media, enterprise mobile applications, and data analytics emerge regularly, there is a great need to partner with these startups, as a company cannot do everything independently.

Due to this partnership, the market scope is expanding, especially higher-margin business for these companies, with minimal investment.

Few organizations claim to represent the interests of the IT professionals from the Telangana region. The newly formed Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) states that techies from the Telangana region have been facing discrimination for a long time.

TITA has done studies on 150 IT projects of the top 50 IT companies and found that of the techies who work on these projects, 60% belong to the Seemandhra region, 16% are from Telangana, and the rest are from other states. These top IT companies include IBM, Infosys, Wipro, HSBC, Tata Consultancy Services, Microsoft, Deloitte and Accenture.

It was observed that the promotions and increments of IT professionals get stopped or delayed just because they belong to the Telangana region.

To reduce this gap, TITA will conduct mentorship programs so that Telangana techies’ skills can be improved. This program will provide training in new technologies and areas, which will help the techies to rise in their organizations.

World’s biggest technology companies call on President Obama

To move aggressively to reform the National Security Agency’s (NSA) controversial surveillance operations, the US called the top leaders from the world’s biggest technology companies after having a discussion with the President of the United States of America “Obama”, last week, White House to resist the attempt so that they portray the encounter as covering a range of broader priorities.

In the meeting called in the US, Executives from 15 companies attended. They had a face-to-face discussion with Obama and Joe Biden, the Vice President, in which they expressed their views about the NSA’s wide-ranging surveillance activities, which had achieved the trust of their users. The companies included in the meeting are Google, Apple, Yahoo and Twitter.

NSA is a collection of Americans’ phone records in bulk quantity, which is almost Orwellian” in scope and probably a violation of the US Constitution. The federal judge released this rule, and the meeting was conducted a day after the law was passed. White House represent some technical companies which have already expressed their deep concern at the wide-ranging nature of NSA surveillance and the way it apparently draws information from their systems without their knowledge.

The troubled federal healthcare website issues were also discussed in the meeting, as they are included in the agenda. However, it is seen that technical companies have not addressed healthcare websites. They are happy they got the opportunity to share their views or principles on government surveillance in front of the President, which they released last week, and they urge him to move aggressively on reform. After leaving the White House, all the company executives said this in a joint statement.

According to the two executives, the White House event was a series of meetings, and the session duration was 2 Hrs and 45 Min. During the time, the healthcare website issues were discussed for a maximum of 45 minutes in the absence of the President and vice president.

Healthcare website and government IT issues discussions were restricted to a pre-meeting with Obama’s chief of staff, Denis McDonough, and other advisors. After the conclusion of this discussion, the President and Vice President arrived for the primary debate, which was scheduled and focused on surveillance issues.

Obama has announced the appointment of an executive in Microsoft, which helped improve the healthcare website. Still, according to one executive, NSA surveillance reform was their main topic of discussion.

In the meeting, discussions were raised on various topics such as Prism, an NSA program that collects and mines internet communications, bulk collection of telephone records, reform of the secret FISA courts, and the Electronic Communications Privacy Act. This act is 27 years old and allows emails and digital communications older than six months to be seized without a warrant.

The executives who were present at the meeting included Obama, President of the United States of America and Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple; Randall Stephenson, the chairman and CEO of AT&T; Marissa Mayer, the CEO of Yahoo; and Eric Schmidt, Executive Chairman of Google and senior representatives from Comcast, Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter and Netflix were also there.

The discussions are also made concerning the national security and economic impacts of unauthorized intelligence disclosures. After listening to the group’s views and recommendations, the President has clarified that he will consider the input and output of other outside stakeholders.

Due to the NSA revelations, technical executives were still feeling the aftershocks of it, and smaller companies were also at a competitive disadvantage. No. Of cuties present at the meeting who don’t consider the Affordable Care Act a severe problem.

Obama administration is now dealing with several issues relating to NASA. The President and his advisers considered recommendations of an NSA review panel set up in the wake of Snowden’s revelations.

A question arises on the constitutionality of the NSA’s program, and it can be resolved by only the Supreme Court.

bad news for the employees of Samsung

Hey, there is terrible news for the employees of Samsung SDS, LG CNS, and SK C&C, the big three local IT service companies, because they have suffered from the revised Software Industry Promotion Act, as its new and revised version hinders or adversely affects their everyday business activities. It adversely affects all their junior and senior staff members.

According to the revised Software Industry Promotion Act, the participation of the three big IT service companies in Korea, i.e. Samsung SDS, LG CNS, and SK C&C, in IT projects in the public sector is banned. This makes things unfavourable this winter for their employees.

The company has not reduced the no. of employees yet. Still, some employees have volunteered to move to other firms, as the company finds no work for them and nothing to do in their companies due to this ban on their level of participation.

For overseas or new growth businesses, Samsung SDS is changing positions of 1,000 or so of its employees. The company has already withdrawn itself from the public IT service sector. To scale down business units and provide new jobs or employment opportunities to their employees, the two companies, LG CNS and SK C&C, have also recently completed their reorganisation. Both companies don’t want the restructuring. Thus, they deny the possibility of restructuring but intend to reduce the number of employees working in their companies through attrition.

According to an industry insider, “The current situation is a side effect of the revised Software Industry Promotion Act, which adversely affects normal business activities without any understanding of the software industry”.

Attrition Rate increased in IT Companies

It has been observed that the attrition rate in the information technology sector has increased over the last several years, which hurts IT companies. Employees in IT companies are now looking for new employment opportunities and shifting to other organizations. It was a trap because demand has increased, and new options are available in the marketplace, attracting employees, especially those in the IT sector.

The attrition rate increased in large IT companies during July- September 2013; according to the experts, this trend may continue.

It has been observed that the demand was more or less stagnant and even declining for some players for the last two years, but now demand is increasing, and thus, some people are shifting their jobs. It can be said that the attrition may increase by around 100-200 basis points in the next four quarters.

If we talk about some IT companies, then Infosys, India’s second-largest IT services company, attrition rate in July-September 2013 was the highest in more than six quarters. In Bangalore, the attrition rate was 17.3 per cent in July-Sep 2013, 16.9 per cent in April- June’2013 and 15 per cent in the last year, so it is increasing continuously. There are a few mid-size companies in which the attrition rate was lower during July- Sep 2013; HCL Technologies saw a sharp rise further in the quarter. During the quarter ending 30 Sep 2013, the attrition rate of HCL was 16.1 per cent as against 14. % a quarter ago. Wipro, the third largest IT Company, shows the attrition rate at 15.4% in July-September 2013, as against 13.0% in April-June 2013.

According to the experts, there are a few factors behind this, like better monetary prospects or employee dissatisfaction with salaries; another reason for switching jobs is the opportunity to go abroad, etc.
All the IT companies understand this, and to overcome this problem, they are planning strategies and methods to decrease the attrition rate.

Apple New Curved Touch Screen Technology

Hey, great news for the customers who are using the iPhone 6 or planning to buy it in the future, as Apple, one of the most prominent technology firms, has announced for their new and upcoming iPhones that they have patented the curved touchscreen technology.

Apple has disclosed its patent details to the public about its new method, which includes a flexible substrate on which a conductive thin film is deposited so that at least one touch sensor pattern can be formed. The flexible substrate should be kept in a flat state. Per the embodiment, the method can support the flexible substrate in the balanced form on at least one curved forming substrate, performing an annealing process and having a predetermined curvature of the conductive thin film.

According to an embodiment, the first forming substrate with a first predetermined curvature is included in the curved forming substrate, and a second substrate with a double predetermined curvature complements the first predetermined curvature.

As per the sources, Apple has made this announcement to give competition to their competitors, such as Samsung and LG, as both companies have announced that in future, they will be using curved screen technology in their upcoming phones.

Apple’s patent does not address the actual touch screen but mainly addresses their production process. As per the experts, no unique benefits can be availed to the customers using such curved-screen phones.

As per the sources, it is known that Apple is working on a curved glass iPhone to be released at the end of 2014 to provide more customer satisfaction.

Alice Corporation and CLS Bank arose in the Supreme Court of the U.S

Recently, an issue has arisen on the patent protection of software. This has emerged as a case between Alice Corporation and CLS Bank appears in the Supreme Court of the U.S., which could severely affect local businesses, both at large and small scale.

People think that if the software is patented, it can protect technology, ideas, and the whole company’s life. Still, even some big groups, such as Google, Adobe, and others, don’t support patenting software.

Adobe’s technology staff said software patents harm the industry without any corresponding benefits and gum up innovation. They say their company spends more on patent lawsuits than technology development.

There is a problem with the software patients; it seems like they have become weapons for those organizations that exist solely to file infringement lawsuits and collect licensing fees. These organizations rely on outdated and overly broad patents to claim new technology.

The potential lawsuit from companies like Lodsys, which owns four patents, concerns smaller firms like his. Lodsys provides rights for interactive advertisements, in-app purchases, subscription models and user data collection. Their main target is individual developers and small-scale software companies who cannot afford to fight in court regarding this issue.
