Creating Reverse DNS Records for IPs

Hi,

As now, cpwebhosting.net is at hsphere 3.0, Resellers Once they get an additional C class network IPs range assigned to their

server, they need to create reverse DNS records (aka PTR records) for each IP from this range. This is necessary for IPs not

to be blocked by some e-mail internet servers which reject mail from IPs without such records.

To create revers DNS record for an IP, reseller have to:

  1. Go to the Dedicated Servers/Manage Servers menu
  2. Choose the server the IP belongs to
  3. Click Edit near the necessary IP range in the Extra IP addresses field
  4. Click the green arrow opposite to the IP.
  5. Type in domain name for this IP and click Submit.
  6. The newly added record will appear on the Edit IP range page.

Setting up backup service for a dedicated server

  5. After that, they will see the scheduled task on the Backup service settings page (to enter this page, press Edit for Backup services on the Dedicated server page).
  6. Now that they will be having a configured scheduled backups, they can also request a custom task. For that, they have to use the Add button and set time for additional backup.

Dedicated Server Cancellation

Hi,

Sometimes, it happens that the reseller want to cancel dedicated server, for that he has to Go to the Dedicated Servers/Manage Servers menu, then click on the Delete icon next to the server name he want to cancel and then has to fill in the page with necessary information and click Submit.

This dedicated server cancellation can be done in the 3 ways:

1. There is a Schedule automatic server cancellation for the end of the billing period. The alloted server will be automatically withdrawn from his account the day before the end of the billing period. After this, he can choose this option, he can see the automatic cancellation date when viewing the server info.

2. Reseller Clicks the Cancel Server icon again if he has changed his billing period and want his server to be cancelled accordingly, or if he want to send request for earlier cancellation.

3. Reseller can also Send request for immediate server cancellation, he needs to Send a request for server cancellation on date – trouble tickets with these request will be issued to your upstream provider.

If reseller changes his mind and he wants to continue with the server means he does not wants to choose to cancel a server automatically for that he needs to inform the administrator about this as soon as it is possible. It is only the admin who is empowered to discard or postpone automatic cancellation of dedicated servers.

Improved design of Skeleton Files

Hi,

With the Cpwebhosting upgrading to Hsphere 3.0, there is a improved design of skeleton files.
In the directory
/etc/skel,
you will find skeleton user files, which are used to populate newly created user accounts with standard, commonly used files.

Whenever a new user is created,
/etc/skel and placed into the new account.
The /etc/skel files are the standard files needed by every new account.

Support for RedHat EL 4 x86_64 and Centos 4 x86_64

Hi,

With the upgradation to cpwebhosting servers to the hsphere 3.0, now there is a great Support for RedHat EL 4 x86_64 and Centos 4 x86_64. With this it gives a scalability and expanded hardware support.

CentOS-4 is based on Enterprise Linux 4.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 includes the SELinux subsystem, which has been integrated with a dozen outward-facing services, including BIND, NTP, and Apache. This allows for policy-based mandatory access controls, which allows a finer control over user privileges.

Dedicated users can now add reverse DNS (PTR) records for their IPs

As the cpwebhosting has upgraded its server to hsphere 3.0, now the dedicated users are facilitated of adding reverse DNS i.e PTR records for their IP’s. This makes it easy to maintain reverse zones and records, without dealing with “in-addr.arpa”, reversing IP addresses etc.

The Reverse DNS is IP address to domain name mapping – the opposite of forward (normal) DNS which maps domain names to IP addresses. This Reverse DNS is maintained in a separate set of data from forward DNS. It is not necessary that if the forward

DNS for a particular domain is pointing to a some IP then, the reverse is also equal i.e the IP is pointing to the same domain.

Mostly this Reverse DNS is is used for tracking web-site visitor from where they, came from, or where an e-mail message originated etc.

It is not necessary that a web-site have a reverse DNS for web-server IP or visitor’s IP, Visitors will reach the website as usual. But there are certain situations where, it is necessary to have a reverse DNS, as many e-mail servers on the Internet are configured to reject incoming e-mails in the absence of reverse DNS.

It is quite normal to host multiple domains on a single IP address, so If there is a hosting multiple domains on one e-mail server, just it need to setup reverse DNS to point to whichever domain name we consider primary. E-mail servers knows in such a situtation that it is impossible to list all the domains in reverse DNS for the IP.

A special PTR-record type is used to store reverse DNS entries. The name of a PTR-record is the IP address with the segments reversed + “.in-addr.arpa”. For example the reverse DNS entry for IP 1.2.3.4 would be stored as a PTR-record for “4.3.2.1.in-addr.arpa”. Dedicated Hosting users can now add reverse DNS (PTR) records for IPs.

Name of Reseller Company not revealed

Hi,

I want to open my own web hosting company, well I know I can get the

best competitve plans from cpwebhosting and they also allow me create

my own hosting packages. I can sell these resources at my desired

corresponding prices. I am from India, I know here prices for 100 MB

are around Rs. 4000, so I can earn great profits which will come to be

the difference between the cpwebhosting wholesale plan and my custom

ones. So for every account order, its renewal, domain registration or

any other type of service I would be offering will count to my profit.
