Difference between Basic Unix and Cheapest Reseller Hosting

Hi,

Basic Unix plan offers 500 MB space same as of the cheapest Reseller Hosting, but in $3.95 in compared with the $6.95 of the cheapest Reseller Hosting, then why should we go for Cheapest Reseller Hosting, when we are getting the same in less price.

Reseller account is for reselling many smaller shared accounts. It also requires little bit more understanding so that you can setup your Reseller Account, sell web hosting and support your customers. With the Reseller Plan, it is assumed that, you are having your own web-hosting company, and the name of the cpwebhosting get concealed everywhere.

reseller accounts work for people who have more than one domain that needs to be hosted, it is a less expensive way of hosting several accounts. Because the space is shared there is less unused space.

Very new to all this and hope that reading these forums will help me to gain an better understanding of the whole thing. thanks for the information.

Best way to advertise?

In your opinion, what is the best way to advertise your site? I’m just curious, and looking for ideas.

I’ve heard that banners are the most effective way to advertise. What is your opion?

I think that it really depends on the site you are wanting to promote. Personally I would use every means I have to start, especially the low cost ones. Then if they are not working eliminate each one that is not bringing in good qualified traffic which leads to sales.

There are a lot of things I would need to know about the site before I could really tell you what may or may not work.

I heard that there are lots of ways that can be successful ways of advertising your website. I am waiting for information on those methods from a friend and will bring them in and post them in here after I get them.

Charges for domain

Hi,

What cpwebhosting is charging for the .com domains ?

Hi,

We are not the registrant company, but, you can register a domain with our hosting plan, and for the .com you will be charged $ 8.95 for a year.

You can also get the .org, .net in the same rate of $ 8.95 for a year.

with most hosting plans, you can opt to transfer and existing domain or have the hosting company register a domain on your behalf. As you can see the price has already been given to you. Although it is not the lowest price available, I would have them complete it for you as it is always easier to manage when they are located within the same company.

That appears to me to be very reasonable. I have paid about the same rate for my domain that I am looking to get up soon. I am waiting to find the right hosting service though, since I know very little about it all and my friend is making me impatient.

Hosting for a Single Site

Hi,

I want just DNS and email for my site, which plan of cpwebhosting is best for me ?

Regards,

You can have a linux hosting plan of cpwebhosting, which will cost you $3.95 per month.

This depends on the needs of your website. A Linux hosting plan is fantastic and the price mentioned above is very reasonable, but you need to take into considerations such as whether or not you will be using CGI, or if you have ASP files as some of the hosting plans may provide for one type of file and not support another.

I would recommend that you take a look at what you want to accomplish with your site, what types of files or databases you may be using. Then look at each of the plans that are available and move forward from that point.

it may seem like more than what you want to do, but it is your money and you need to decide which is going to work better for your money.

Cool I have finally found some information regarding questions that I have had. Thanks for posting the information to the forums it will be a grand help for me during my time of need.

Website without a domain

Can I setup a website without a domain immediatley?

yes, but well you will need atleast one domain to start with.

If you want to setup a website without purchasing a domain, then you may want to start looking at free hosting services sites. You can get a list by conducting a quick search on any search engine.

I would like to tell you that many of those do have automatic ads that they put on your site. I generally would not even tell you to get one, especially if you are looking to make a professional site and want to earn money from the site.

You can register a domain now days for so little money, and if it does not work out then do not renew the registration. You want your site to be professional, then get your own domain, and hosting.

I do not know whole lot about all this, but it is my understanding that you have to have a domain in order to have a website. Whether it be a free from another person with a directory type name or an actual domain name.

Problem with my old registrant

Hi,

Well, I have an account with from last so many years, and the time has came for its renewal, I paid to my registrant, but not have completed the paperwork and so my domain has been frozen – even though it is listed as renewed until April 08.
I got hold of tech support they said to me that there is some accounts dept problem. I tried but cannot get through to accounts or customer support. I talked on the live support of the cpwebhosting.netand they were very helpful, but they cannot transfer a .com domain without co operation from registrant company. They suggested me to get the authority code from the registrant company and then email to them with the same so that they could be able to provide me the quick response, because of their help, I was able to get it done.

That is good that you were able to get it done. I hope all is going well with it now. I know that I have has problems with registrar companies in the past putting domains in their own name as the owner. I have had to fight with a few on that.

One of the first bits of information is that you know your domain is in your name. The older registrar companies are better to work with, since now days if you have the right amount of money you can register domains with ICAAN. Or can choose to pay more money and go with the first company allowed to register. But just pay attention to who you have register the domain name and the company.

If your local ISP does it on your behalf, then you should still have access to be able to change information and so on.

This is the first I have heard of this, I will have to make sure that I check with the domain register company I went with and make sure that they have all my information for the domain I wanted. thanks

Changing DNS

How do I change your name server to my private name server? To illustrate I would like to change your nameserver ns1.yourdomain.com to ns1.mydomain.com . The reason for the change is that I would like the nameservers to be privately labeled.

So let me make sure I understand what you are asking for before I answer. You want to change the name server name only… or are you planning on hosting the site the yourself?

Here is why I ask. If you are looking at private label only and the hosting is done elsewhere, you are not going to be able to do this. The only way you can is if you have IP addresses and a server to complete this task.

can someone please tell me if this is the same as transferring a domain which I saw in another thread. If it is not can you tell me the difference between the two. for clarification purposes.

I was surprised to come back and see that I still will not be able to answer your question, once you have clarified which you were referring to I would be happy to provide you with the right answer so that you can do what is right for your website.

Hi,

For entering private nameservers, log into the registrar website, there, you need to click on the Account Manager, Now scroll down in the left menu to the Manage Host servers.
The new form will appear, in which in the left text box, enter the ns1.cpwebhosting.net and then click on the continue button. Then it will ask for entering the IP address, please enter 69.61.35.3 and then again click on the continue button. It will ask for confirmation of changes, click on the Apply change. Now it will say, that, “Your change has been submitted. It may take upto 72 hours for it to be recognized across the Internet.”
Click on the Back to the Accont Manager Home given below of that statement.
You need to repeat this process for entering the another nameserver ns2.cpwebhosting.net with the IP 69.61.35.200 , at least 2 nameservers are required.
If you find any of the problem, you can also chat on our liveperson, which is there on the site cpwebhosting.net

Wouldn’t the basic instructions on how to do this or where to find your management account depend on how the registrar has it setup for you to access. I think that some registrars do require you to contact them and do not give you direct access to change things like that. if I am wrong please correct me so I know the right information.

Summary Disk Space

How this summary disk space is calculated, can anyone provide me some idea ?

On the basis of Summary Disk Space, Disk space usage is calculated. This is the total amount of space you can use across on servers. It is inclusive of web space (for website files), mail space and database space. This space is based on average usage and not allocation. After Every 24 hours, system calculates how much total data you are storing on servers (web + e-mail + database). At the end of a 30 day month, it would have 30 readings. The average of these 30 readings would be taken and that would be your actual summary disk space usage for that month.

Please, also tell me what is the disk quota ?

In Every 24 hours the system scans your home FTP directory to see how much web disk is used under your account. It shows how much FTP disk space you are using out of your Disk Quota.
When you reach your Disk Limit, the system will not let you upload anything into your FTP home directory. You cannot store more MBs than your Disk Quota allows.

Glad to see that you were able to get the information and your question asked. Sorry I could not come in and help you out here. But I will keep this information for future reference. thanks

It shows how much FTP (web), mail and DB disk space all together you are using of your Disk Usage limit.
It shows:

a) the Last Day’s Usage
– every 24 hours all servers (web, mail, MySQL, etc.) are scanned, and all actually used disk space is summarized to make your Summary Disk Usage for the last day;

b) the Average Usage for the current disk usage cycle of your Disk Usage Limit
– for billing purposes, the system also monitors your average disk usage for the disk usage cycle. From the beginning of this cycle, summary readings of each daily scan are added up, and the cumulative amount is divided by the number of days elapsed since the cycle starting date.

Disk Usage Limit doesn’t stop you from using more disk space. But if you go over it, you will be charged overlimit fee for it. Keep in mind that your hosting plan might be configured to suspend your account if you reach/exceed your Disk Usage Limit. Before suspension, you would be usually notified by e-mail of approaching your limit.

However, you can change your Disk Usage limit, in this case:
1. Your current disk usage cycle is closed.
2. You are refunded recurrent fee for the days remaining to the end of the disk usage cycle.
3. Your disk usage limit is prorated to the days elapsed from the beginning of the disk usage cycle. And if your average disk usage is more than this, you are charged extra fee for the overlimit.
4. A new disk usage cycle is opened.
5. If you are increasing your disk usage limit, you will usually pay recurrent fee for the increased amount, which is usually less than extra/usage fee.
Your hosting plan can prevent you from setting very high Disk Usage limit.

Yes, I do agree with you that, Disk Usage Limit doesn’t stop you from using more disk space and if you go over it, you will be charged overlimit fee for it.
But, I think, Before suspension, support usually notify by e-mail of approaching your limit.

Hi,

Can I set Disk Usage limit at level I want?

Well, Your hosting plan can prevent you from setting very high Disk Quota

Hi,

Where I can find the disk quota statistics ?

Regards
