Determine How You’ll Use It

A one-person show has quite different network needs than a large corporation does. A single-band router will do just fine for the average Wi-Fi user.

Dual-band routers like Netgear’s N750 Wireless Gigabit Router (WNDR4000) are on the other end of the spectrum. These allow you to perform tasks that require a lot of bandwidth, such as streaming high-definition video or moving massive files.

Single vs. Dual Band

Wireless communications are conducted over 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies. A 2.4 GHz router is for simpler networks, while dual-band 5 GHz can handle much more. It works great for streaming and offers a higher internal network performance.

A downside to the 5GHz is that the signal is weaker at greater distances than the 2.4 GHz.  This is something you’ll want to think about. Another factor to consider is that some devices work with one band or the other, not both. You’ll want to check the gadgets hooking up to the network before deciding.

About Mbps

Routers are offered at 300 Mbps, 450 Mbps, or 900 Mbps. This is how fast the router is. 300 Mbps was the standard once upon a time and signifies that if the router is placed in a room under the best conditions and full signal strength, the router produces speeds of 300 Mbps. Right now, 450 Mbps and 900 Mbps are also offered.

It should be noted you will likely never obtain speeds as fast as this. Many factors lead to this: channel overlap, interference, and many factors beyond your control. 802.11n

802.11ac

This is the next “standard” in development. As such, the Wi-Fi Alliance, charged with assuring networking products don’t end up in customers’ hands unless they do what they are supposed to, has yet to certify 802.11ac routers. It could take a year or more for the 802.11ac routers to offer any improvement over 802.11n.

Security

Typically, new routers support WPA2, the highest security level. You want to make sure your router supports this.

Configuration Tool

Open a window for Applications, Libraries (DLLSelection), Audio (Sound drivers), Desktop integration, and Graphics.
From the Application panel, the user can select the version of Windows for which an application is designed.

The Drives panel list detected partitions,dandsWindowsed drives as .wine/drive_c. The Linux file system is listed as Z: drive.
Once configured, WINE will set up the .wine directory on the user’s home directory; within that directory, the drive_c guide is C, holding Windows and Program Files subdirectories. The Windows directory contains System and System32 directories, where DLL files are placed.
The Program files directory holds installed Windows programs, and their icons appear on the desktop.

The fully functional Graphical User Interface (GUI), OpenOffice suite, and multimedia applications led to an increase in Linux users.

MS Windows History

  • 1985 – The introduction of Windows as ‘MS-DOS Executive’, which could run DOS applications side-by-side with Windows.
  • 1987 – With the release of Intel’s 386 CPU, most companies started adopting MS Windows 2.0/286/386 286/386 operating system. It introduces overlapping resizable flexible windows and the simultaneous running of MS-DOSS applications.

    The Cathedral and the Bazaar was first published as an essay (later as a book), resulting in Netscape publicly releasing the source code to its Netscape Communicator web browser suite. Thus, it brings the attention of the popular technical press to Linux’s open-source development model.
    A programmer’s group begins developing the graphical user interface KDE.
  • 1999: A developers group starts working on the graphical environment GNOME, destined to become a free replacement for KDE, the then proprietary Qt toolkit. IBM announced an extensive project for the support of Linux.
  • 2000: Dell announced as the No. 2 provider of Linux-based systems worldwide and the first major manufacturer to offer Linux across its entire product line.

Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog join hands with NASSCOM to roll out Artificial Intelligence Modules in Indian Schools


With an imperative to empower the youngest minds of the country with the latest technologies, NITI Aayog, Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), in collaboration with the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM), today launched an AI-based Module rolled out for students in Indian schools.

The AI-Base Module has been introduced to help students leverage the full potential of AIM’s Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL). Further, it empowers them to innovate and create valuable solutions benefiting societies. The module contains activities, videos, and experiments that enable students to work through and learn the various concepts of AI.

Sharing his thoughts, CEO NITI Aayog Amitabh Kant said that India can add 1.3% to its GDP annually through machine learning and artificial intelligence.

“Indians can find solutions to the challenges of a shared, connected zero-emission world, improving learning outcomes, diseases like tuberculosis, cancer, etc. If we are able to find solutions to these challenges for the 1.3 billion people of India, we can find solutions for the 7.5 billion people of the world too,” he said.

He added that this AI module is so critical that it will start teaching young children from a very young age, and then Indians will become significant players in AI like it has been done for robots, 3D printing, and IoT. “This is path-breaking, it combines playing and academics and our job are to make things very interesting. We want to make artificial intelligence great fun so that children can enjoy it, they can evolve and learn and take India forward.”

Technology innovation over the last decade has been breathtakingly fast as industries have intertwined with emerging technologies like never before. It has been estimated that by 2030, the global AI market will likely be 15 to 15.5 trillion dollars, out of which India’s share will be close to a trillion.

Mission Director Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog R Ramanan said that AI is going to be an integral part of the new 21st-century innovations, and we are proud to introduce the Learn-It-Yourself module in all our 5000 Atal Tinkering Labs with over 2.5 million students having access to it. “This is the first-ever industry-government academia initiative on such a scale to keep the school students abreast of latest technologies.” 

Meanwhile, for India to lead and remain relevant in this new ‘tech-driven decade’, especially in emerging technologies like AI and the ubiquity of AI in society, the government and academia must collaborate and introduce AI learning at schools and prepare young minds for the AI-led Digital future. 

Speaking on the collaboration, Debjani Ghosh, President of NASSCOM, said, “AI has become a strategic lever for economic growth across nations and will continue to be one of the most crucial technologies of the future. Given its impact, it is an embracing step taken by NITI Aayog to introduce the resources for students to learn AI. This will create the right foundations for students, especially the K-12 segment, to onboard onto future technologies and prepare them fully for the digital and AI era. The partnership is a crucial step in building citizens and a workforce that is aware of AI and can work with AI.”

The hands-on AI module has been designed with the academic, co-scholastic, and other ATL programs at school in mind. It is formulated to encourage young students to contribute to the nation-building journey. The module will catalyze the youth to explore, ideate, and learn the latest technologies and build a generation of innovators at the grassroots level.

Atal Innovation Mission, housed at NITI Aayog, is the Government of India’s flagship initiative to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. At the school level, AIM establishes ATLs in all districts across India. As of today, AIM has selected 14,916 schools across the country, spread across 33 different states and union territories to establish ATLs.

NASSCOM acknowledges the role played by AI and other emerging technologies as an imperative to building a digitally powered tomorrow. By inculcating AI and a ‘learning by doing’ culture in schools, tremendous opportunities are bound to arise for the overall industries on a global scale. To achieve this, NASSCOM and AIM have collaborated with industry members and universities to develop special modules on Artificial Intelligence learning.

Promoting digital talent for nation-building has been one of the consistent efforts laid out by the IT-ITeS Sector Skills Council, NASSCOM. For this critical initiative and many such programs, the IT-ITeS Sector Skills Council has been an essential pillar for NASSCOM to catalyze the skill development ecosystem in the country and build industry-ready talent for the IT sector in India.

The AI Base Module is ready to be introduced to the ATL students on February 27th. Additionally, an AI Step-up Module is under development, which will be the next step that builds on the base module.
